  • Run before the sun in the ASICS Half Marathon (21.095km) at 6am on Sunday 2 July. Enjoy the good times on our world-standard course while soaking up the beautiful broadwater on your return journey from Southport to Paradise Point.

    The Gold Coast Airport Marathon is held annually in one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world. It is Australia’s premier road race and was the first marathon in the country to hold an International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Road Race Gold Label.

    The event is held on the first weekend of July and attracts more than 27,000 participants of all ages and abilities across a number of races including the Gold Coast Airport Marathon, Wheelchair Marathon, ASICS Half Marathon, Wheelchair 15km, Southern Cross University 10km Run, 5.7km Challenge and Zespri Junior Dash 4km and 2km races.

    The 39th annual Gold Coast Airport Marathon will be held Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 July 2017. Famous features of the Gold Coast Airport Marathon include:

    Fast, flat and scenic course
    The marathon course runs next to the Gold Coast’s surf beaches and broadwater and has a reputation as one of the flattest and fastest courses in the world. It’s ideal if you’re striving for a personal best time or a Boston Marathon qualification.

    International status
    The Gold Coast Airport Marathon is a member of AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Road Races), Athletics Australia and is an International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Road Race Gold Label event.

    Championship host
    The Gold Coast Airport Marathon hosts a number of championships including the IAAF Oceania Area Marathon and 10km Road Race Championships, Australian Defence Marathon Championships, Queensland Marathon and 10km Road Running Championships, Australian Masters Athletics Marathon Championships + more!

    Awesome running conditions
    The weather conditions in July on the Gold Coast are traditionally great for running. There is low humidity, little or no wind in the morning and mild temperatures.

    You will be inspired and motivated by the huge crowds cheering for you from Burleigh Heads to Runaway Bay. Their support will get you to the finish line.

    Training for a marathon or any of the races on the program will increase your physical activity levels and you will learn more about nutrition as you strive to be in good physical condition on race day.

    Fundraise for the official charity Cancer Council Queensland or for a charity of your choice through the Everyday Hero fundraising website.

    Rewards for finishing
    Finishers are rewarded for their personal achievement with a commemorative medal, shirt and certificate. They’re collectors’ items for those who come back from year-to-year or travel to running events around the world.

    Meet running legends
    Ambassadors of the event include Australian running legends Rob de Castella, Steve Moneghetti, Lee Troop, Pat Carroll and Benita Willis and there are many opportunities to meet them over the weekend.

    Things you need to know

    A $10 onsite fee applies to any entries received at the Check In Centres.

    All entries to be completed via the official online entry form.

    Payment must be made via Credit/Debit Card (MasterCard or Visa), China UnionPay or Account2Account (Bank Transfer) at the time of registration

    1.5% surcharge applies to payments via MasterCard or Visa, 3.25% for China UnionPay transactions.

    Refunds are only permitted to the extent that the Event Organiser is required to provide a refund or payment at law. Transfers to another entrant can be completed free of charge.

    Race numbers are to be collected in person from one of the Check In Centres during opening hours prior to race day. Race numbers will not be posted.

    Photo ID is required for race bib collection. If you are collecting on behalf of another individual please make sure you have a copy of their confirmation letter and an email/text/letter giving you permission to collect on their behalf.

    All race changes, race transfers and entry information changes must be completed the day prior to your race at the Gold Coast Check In Centre (by 8pm Friday 30 June – 10km, 5.7km, 4km, 2km and 5pm Saturday 1 July – Marathon, Half Marathon, Wheelchair Marathon, Wheelchair 15km).

    If you are entering the Gold Coast Airport Marathon on behalf of other people, you are accepting these terms and conditions on their behalf.

    Finishers Benefits:

    Everyone finishing the Gold Coast Airport Marathon, ASICS Half Marathon, Southern Cross University 10km Run and 5.7km Challenge will receive an exclusive finishers’ shirt and medal.  All finishers’ results and certificates will be available online after the event. Results will be published in a special souvenir lift-out in the Gold Coast Bulletin on Monday 3 July.

    Collecting your race number

    Before participating in the ASICS Half Marathon you must collect your race number from the Check In Centre before 5pm Saturday 1 July.

    All entry information changes, race changes and race transfers must be done in person at the Check In Centre before 8pm Friday 30 June.

    Baggage Drop

    You can leave belongings at the Baggage Drop tent located on the eastern side of the event lawn from 5:30am to 12:00pm on Saturday 1 July and 5:00am to 2:30pm on Sunday 2 July.

    Belongings should be placed in a plastic bag affixed with the tear-off tag on your race number. Use the tent designated to your specific race to retrieve your luggage. Volunteers will take the utmost care to secure the tents, however valuables should not be left in bags.

    Belongings must be collected before 2:30pm on Sunday 2 July or they will be treated as lost property. Organisers will not be responsible for theft or loss of property.

    Clothes left at the Start Line

    Clothing left at the start line and Race Precinct will be picked up promptly and donated to charity.

    Fundraise with Everyday Hero

    Run for the good times and support a charity of your choice. The 2016 event was a huge success as runners enjoyed the opportunity to get outdoors, challenge themselves and raise funds for their chosen charity. Nearly $400,000 was raised!
